Again, all phases of the team can share some blame for the loss. Witten’s fumble, Austin’s drops, Gronkowski’s missed blocking assignment, Jenkins’s pass interference, and generally the defenses lack of ability to force the Giants off the field. Wade Phillips even contributed to the loss by opting to go for a touchdown rather than a field goal while 18 points down.
Cowboys fans can find some solace is the other-worldly play of Dez Bryant who mesmerized the crowd on a 93 yard punt return for a touch down, along with two late receiving touchdowns. Many fans will turn their attention to the 2011 NFL Draft. The presumption is that the Cowboys will draft two offensive lineman in the early rounds. Unfortunately, there do not appear to be any left tackles worthy of being drafted at the top of the draft. Guards and centers are taken late in the first round, and it does not appear the Cowboys would be drafting past the 15th slot barring a trade.
So fans, switch gears (if you have not already done so), and remember the years when Quincy Carter was the signal caller and Dave Campo was roaming the sidelines. You watched to enjoy the game and maybe see a win. Ironically, the Cowboys were 3-3 in 2002 to start the season. Amazing?!?
