Erin Barry

Yesterday we had reported about the divorce filed by Eva Longoria on Wednesday from Tony Parker, and rumors were there that she had found hundreds of text messages on his mobile phone from their mutual female friend.
Yesterday we did not mentioned who the third person was. According to Sports Illustrated, the other woman is Erin Barry, wife of Tony Parker’s former Spurs teammate Brent Barry.
Writer of Sports Illustrated Bryan Armen Graham tweeted, “Have it on good authority from entertainment sources that “former teammate” in Tony Parker-Eva Longoria affair is Brent Barry… Don’t have much else on Parker/Longoria affair. Source did mention Barry and wife are going through a divorce.

National Unfriend Day

Happy National Unfriend Day, PopWatchers! Jimmy Kimmel created this dubious holiday to restore integrity to the word “friend” and encourage people to “cut out some of the friend fat in your life.” NUD, guided by its declaration of indefriendence, reminds us that “all men are not created equal. Some men are very annoying.” Heh.
“Remember five years ago when no one was on Facebook, and you didn’t know what the guy you took high school biology with was having for lunch? Remember how that was fine? Let’s go back to that,” Kimmel joked. But it’s almost too true! That really was fine, those dark days.
I fully support NUD, and not just because I like a goofy acronym — but boy, do I! No, it’s also because I love punishing people who take online quizzes. Most of those are just spam generators, you guys.
Who are you unfriending, PopWatchers?

Sexiest Man Alive 2010

On Wednesday, Kim Kardashian will host an ABC primetime special called 25 Years of Sexy: People Magazine's Sexiest Man Alive! culminating in the reveal of 2010's Sexiest Man. So, who will it be? The internet is buzzing with guesses, based on the three clues that People has given us:

1. He looks sexy scruffy and cleaned up.
2. He has spent time on the small screen and the big screen.
3. You've probably seen him on a motorcycle.

Based on Twitter (#sexiestmanalive) and gossip blogs, here are our top five contenders for the annual honor:

1. Jon Hamm - The first clue seems to point most strongly to the dashing Mad Men star, whose starched-and-shaved character Don Draper is a major contrast to his scruffy-and-casual off-screen look. He also rode a motorcycle during appearances on 30 Rock and SNL and had major roles in two 2010 feature films (The Town and Howl).
2. Hugh Laurie - The charismatic House star is known to commute on a motorcycle, and looks just as handsome with or without the five o'clock shadow. The second clue, however, makes us wonder; Laurie has been concentrating on TV since House began and hasn't made a notable feature film in a long time.

3. Robert Pattinson - Another actor who's impeccably cleaned up in his signature role (Edward Cullen in the Twilight movies), and charmingly scruffy in real life. He rode a motorcycle in a famous Harper's Bazaar photo shoot with costar Kristen Stewart. But... TV? Does being awkwardly charming on talk shows count?

4. Taylor Lautner - The first clue could refer to Lautner's dual Twilight identity as human stud and werewolf. He also rides a motorcycle in the films, and got his start as a child actor on TV. But there's one big reason we're doubting this one: Lautner is 18, and People has never picked a teen for the title.

5. James Franco - The hot indie actor of the moment, he's been scruffy and polished, a TV star (Freaks and Geeks) and a movie star (this year's Howl and 127 Hours). Although we can clearly picture him on a motorcycle, we can't recall any specific instances.

Other popular guesses include Patrick Dempsey, Bradley Cooper, Jake Gyllenhaal, as well as perennial favorites Johnny Depp, Brad Pitt and George Clooney (all of whom have won twice). Last year, iVillage readers correctly guessed that Johnny Depp would be crowned the sexiest man. So, who's your pick for 2010?

Omega Psi Phi

Omega Psi Phi: In an attempt to combat drinking on campus, junior Melvin "Maybach" Robinson has decided to provide students with weekly, non-alcoholic activities on Thursday nights.

Starting this Thursday, there will be weekly events held in the Student Union Building's Multi-purpose room for students. These events will be held in conjunction with Residence Life, Student Government Association, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc., Boyz II Men Mentoring Program and the baseball team.

Planned activities include board games, card games, karaoke, caricatures and music by Robinson who also goes by "DJ Maybach."

"There aren't enough social events on campus that people can go to for free and just hang out," Robinson said.

Sophomore Nykole Johnson agrees that there are limited things for students on campus. "I think it's a good idea for those students who don't indulge in drinking."

Temple University has a similar event in effect on Friday nights where they serve food and drinks to students, Robinson added.

Robinson also hopes to incorporate knowledge of various subjects in the events.

Residence Life had a similar idea with Thirst for Knowledge Thursdays, which works as an alternative for alcohol consumption. The phrase was coined by Carl Walton, director of the Horace Mann Bond Honors Program and interim associate provost for Student Development and Student Affairs.

"Student's have adopted the Thirsty Thursday culture," John Lowney, director of Residence Life said. "It's a positive thing because it gets students back to being academically focused," he said about the new Thursday events.

Since mid-October, Thirst for Knowledge has hosted programs, lectures, debates and additional events that range in nature. Every Thursday in the cafeteria, "mocktails," which are non-alcoholic variations of popular cocktails, are served to students.

"I want the programs to be student generated because students know what other students want," Lowney said.

Lowney hopes that the events to come will generate a lot of student participation as the ones held in the past. "I expect the events to be fun and encourage students to engage in different activities that enable them to still have fun in the absence of alcohol and drugs."

Bruce Beresford Redman

Prayers have been answered, but will justice be done? Former Survivor producer, Bruce Beresford-Redman has been arrested Bruce Beresford-Redman who has been accused of killing his innocent wife, Monica Beresford-Redman, has been reportedly taken into custody! Be sure to check out pictures and videos below!
Yes, according to reports, in Los Angeles this afternoon, US Marshals arrived on a warrant from Mexico and arrested Beresford-Redman at his home in Rancho Palos Verdes, California for the brutal death of his beloved wife. It is said that Monica died by asphyxiation while on vacation at a luxurious resort with her family in Cancun, Mexico on April 5th. Now, Bruce is set to appear before a federal judge in Los Angeles and is believed to be extradited back to Mexico.
The complaint included the following:
- “a forensic expert examined Bruce’s hotel room and found blood stains on a pillar in the room, on the sheets and on a railing.”
- “says two teenagers in the hotel room below Bruce’s were awakened by screams, crying for help and extremely loud banging from the room above … it sounded like a woman in extreme distress.”
- “The fact of BERESFORD’s affair was confirmed through emails obtained by the Mexican authorities in which BERESFORD admitted to his wife that he had been unfaithful.”
- “claims an employee at the hotel witnessed Bruce attempt to physically assault the woman whom he later identified as Monica.”
- “after Monica disappeared, authorities observed scratches/abrasions on Bruce’s hands, behind his ear, on his left shin and his right ankle.”
Beresford-Redman’s attorney, Richard G. Hirsch, is “disappointed by the United States Government’s decision to arrest Bruce Beresford-Redman. Based upon our investigation he is an innocent man being wrongfully accused by a foreign government. We hope that after full consideration of both sides, a federal court will decide not to extradite him.”
Even though he still denies that he had anything to do with his wife’s murder, let justice be served for Monica and their two children and all those who loved her dearly!
Stay tuned for further updates! As always, definitely leave us your thoughts about Bruce Beresford-Redman arrested in the comment box. Also, check out more photos and a video below for more details on this case.

Christopher Hitchens

A sudden dislike a man when he is down – and Christopher Hitchens, facing an almost certain fate of a cancer, is certainly down. But as he lived his life without pulling punches against those he felt (whatever standards he held at the time) to spew bullsht loopholes, pay tribute to his cherished principle in applying it to his own words.
? Hitchens has been given a sumptuous spread and almost entirely adulatory in The Observer this weekend, holding forth in his usual “young leftist apologist years was imperial” manner. There is not much interest in the interview, and I would have ignored if not for an extraordinary passage in which Hitchens demonstrates perfectly the self-willful blindness of those who end up worshiping at the altar of Moloch militaristic.
In defending his advocacy of provocation, the illegal invasion of Iraq – and reiterating his unwavering support and still glowing approval of this war crime in progress, Hitchens made this statement:
? “I am pleased that we are not having an inquiry now, we would [if there had been no invasion], which enabled us to Rwanda or Congo to expand in the Gulf, Iraq imploding right before our eyes, a whirlwind of violence and crisis, a society reduced to begging and fractured and traumatized, waiting to fall apart. ”
? Of course, what Hitchens does here – that even the speaker realizes sycophants – described exactly what happened in Iraq because of the invasion. It is in fact an excellent description of the fate of the conquered nation in the hands of the monstrous assault he has championed. ?
Yet he managed to convince himself that the rape of Iraq has prevented what he saw happen right in front of his eyes, year after year. Obviously, somewhere in his mind, he vaguely knows the truth is his brain registered the undeniable fact that Iraq has indeed become a “vortex of violence and crisis, a society reduced to begging and fractured and traumatized.” But the current reality – which came precisely because and only because of the invasion and occupation of which he still defends – was transposed into what he now believes were his fears of what might happen if Iraq had not been invaded.
This could be attributed charitably scrambled backward projection of the side effects of chemotherapy unhappy – if not for the fact that Hitchens has demonstrated this same moral blindness for years, perhaps since the time he was openly exulting in the 9 / 11 attacks, considering these mass murders of the glorious promise of a world conflagration – yes, indeed, a biblical Armageddon, “. A war to the finish between everything I love and everything I hate” The thought of such a tsunami of blood and destruction, which – and is – the consumption of the lives of thousands and thousands of innocent people had been “euphoric,” said Hitchens.
But it has always been with religious extremists. Hitchens may be moved from Marx to Moloch in his fanaticism, but the blind – not to overstate it – idiot accession to the doctrine of sacred violence (whether Trotsky “permanent revolution “or America’s Terror War imperium) remained firm. And even when he looks into the abyss last, he is dosing himself with pure illusion to avoid the realization of his complicity with evil.

Leonids Meteor Shower 2010

The Leonid meteor shower of 2010 is peaking this week and the best time to see the sky show is NOW.  The annual Leonids should be at their best through Nov. 18, according to skywatching experts. Avid meteor gazers graced with clear skies may see between 15 and 20 meteors per hour.

The best time to try to see the Leonids are in the last two or three hours before sunrise, when the moon has set.
“From the time of moonset until around 5:15 a.m. – when the first streaks of dawn begin to appear in the east Ñ the sky will be dark and moonless,” advises Joe Rao of SPACE.com.

“That interval will provide you with your best opportunity to see any Leonid meteors.”

NASA also recommends you watch from moonset on, but they also suggest you read GOING MUTANT, while you wait.  You can get GOING MUTANT… RIGHT HERE.

Another tip: Make sure to stay warm and get comfortable.  Astronomers recommend you wear a Snuggie.
If you have a lawn chair that reclines, use it during your search for Leonid meteors since it will help keep your neck from getting stiff as well as make it easier to look at the night sky,” Rao said.

The Leonid meteor shower is an annual event that returns every mid-November. The shower is caused by material left behind the comet Tempel-Tuttle when it passes near Earth’s orbit during its regular trip through the solar system.

When the Earth passes through these knots of comet material, the gas and dust flares up in the atmosphere, creating spectacular meteors.

Every 33 years, the Earth encounters a dense knot of material – most recently in 2002 – to create dazzling displays of shooting stars. During those showers, it can be possible to see hundreds or thousands of meteors per hour.

That isn’t the case this year because the Earth is passing through a less dense area of Comet Tempel-Tuttle’s trail, Rao said.

Still, the Leonids retain a reputation for offering impressive meteor displays.

But with fewer meteors expected this year, you may want to travel a bit to find the best spot. Meteor-gazing from a rooftop in suburbia doesn’t always offer the best view, though if you stay up there long enough you may see Santa Claus.

Your Highness

Word is that Natalie Portman is shopping “BYO,” a raunchy comedy she co-wrote with a college friend, around Hollywood. Perhaps she got the itch from co-starring in “Your Highness,” a new comedy starring Danny McBride, James Franco, and Zooey Deschanel opening April 8, 2011.
Directed by McBride’s college buddy David Gordon Green (who directed Franco in “Pineapple Express”), the film stars McBride and Franco as brothers Thadeous and Fabious, who reluctantly team up to help save the latter’s bride to be (Deschanel). During their journey, they encounter a mythical beast with several head, wizard weed (of course), and Portman’s character, a potential love interest for Thadeous.

Madagascar Military Take Over

A group of senior military officers declared a takeover of power in  Madagascar on Wednesday as the island voted on a new draft constitution but the country's military leadership vowed to crush any rebellion.
"If there is a mutiny, we have to intervene. We cannot negotiate with someone who mutinies," Military Police General Andrianazary told Reuters by telephone after an emergency meeting of top military leaders in the prime minister's office.

Rebel Colonel Charles Andrianasoavina said earlier at a barracks near the airport on the outskirts of the capital that a "military council for the welfare of the people" had been formed to run the world's fourth largest island.

Colonel Andrianasoavina was one of the main backers of President Andry Rajoelina's power-grab in March last year when he toppled Marc Ravalomanana. Another senior officer behind Rajoelina then was also in the rebellious group.

The country's military has suffered from rifts since the 2009 coup. A group of dissident military police briefly seized control of a military camp in May, before being quashed by the security forces.

A Reuters witness said it was calm outside the presidential palace in the city's center. Members of the security forces have been on the streets monitoring voting in the referendum, which is seen as a test of confidence in Rajoelina's leadership.

Prime Minister General Camille Vital was expected to make a statement shortly.

Voters cast their ballots at more than 18,000 polling stations which closed at 1300 GMT. Voting was generally peaceful, although some people complained they were not on electoral lists.

"I just voted because I would like to see changes when it comes to governance. If I had not voted, then there would be no changes. Whether you vote yes or no, you are already on your way to find a solution," said Aha Randriamahefa in the capital.

OPPOSITION BOYCOTT

Rajoelina scrapped the old constitution after ousting unpopular leader Ravalomanana with military backing, creating turmoil on the island targeted by foreign investors for its oil, nickel, cobalt and uranium deposits.

International mediators brokered a series of power sharing agreements between Rajoelina, Ravalomanana and two other former presidents, but they all collapsed in bickering over the allocation of ministerial posts.

The three main opposition parties, each headed by one of the former presidents, are boycotting the vote.

The new constitution lowers the minimum age for a president by five years to 35, which would regularise 36-year-old Rajoelina's rule and allow him to renege on a previous pledge that he will not contest the next vote slated for May 4, 2011.

The proposed law also sets no deadline for presidential elections, which critics say could allow Rajoelina to remain indefinitely at the helm of the country brought to fame by its lemurs and the DreamWorks animation film "Madagascar".

Smallpox

Tonight’s episode of House featured the eccentric doctor coming to the aid of a family which potentially acquired smallpox after handling the long lost equipment of a former slave ship. This quickly leads to the CDC infection team taking over House’s hospital, issuing a quarantine that effectively bans his team from being able to do their work properly. The skilled and knowledgeable doctor receives test results which disprove the situation, but he finds no willing ear as he tries to de-escalate the panic.
House and his team attempt to trick the CDC group into believing that one of the patients in quarantine actually has Meningococcal disease to gain access, but this ruse is quickly discovered; the situation grows more tense as House violates the quarantine to treat his patients. He puts himself in danger until he finds the actual cure: a similar but less severe and ultimately treatable condition called rickettsialpox.

Michael Douglas Win Against His Ex Wife

Michael Douglas got a big victory in a Manhattan court today when a judge threw out his ex-wife's claim that she's owed a cut of the money he made for filming a sequel to Wall Street.

"He's thrilled," Douglas' lawyer, Marilyn Chinitz, said. "This is the right decision...This action should have never been brought in the first place."

Manhattan Supreme Court Judge Matthew Cooper ruled that a New York court was not the proper venue for the suit by Diandra Douglas. There was no ruling on the merit of the case. Diandra could repeal or refile in California, where the two were divorced.

Her lawyer, Nancy Chemtob, said, "We respectfully disagree with the decision, and intend to appeal. Both parties are residents of New York, and the case should be decided here."

Diandra said Douglas owed her because the original Wall Street was made while the two were married. Verbiage in the divorce said Diandra was owed any money from "spinoffs" of Douglas' work while they were married.

Michael's lawyer says that doesn't count because Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps was a sequel and not a spinoff.

Donovan McNabb

Washington quarterback Donovan McNabb, benched two weeks ago when his team needed a late scoring drive to win, signed a five-year deal worth a reported $US78 million ($A79.4 million) on Monday to stay with the Redskins.

Hours before the Redskins faced McNabb's former Philadelphia teammates in a National Football League game, McNabb struck a deal with $US40 million ($A40.72 million) guaranteed and more in possible performance bonuses.

Ten days shy of his 34th birthday, McNabb assured himself five more seasons with a team that obtained him in an off-season trade with NFC East division rival Eagles but benched him for the final crucial minutes two weeks ago.
Advertisement: Story continues below

Redskins coach Mike Shanahan elected to bench McNabb on October 31 at Detroit with Shanahan expressing concern about McNabb in a time-compressed situation in going with backup Rex Grossman on the final two Washington possessions against the Lions when trailing by only six points.

"I thought that was the best scenario for us to win," Shanahan said.

Grossman fumbled away the ball to surrender a touchdown on his first play and the Redskins lost 37-25.

McNabb, a six-time All-Pro quarterback, did not express anger after the benching.

"You have to be a professional. There's a long season ahead of us," McNabb said. "You just have to learn from it and move on."

The Redskins, with four wins and four losses, had a bye week last week and talks between McNabb and the club took place during the extended rest break.

"Once the regular season started, we really were aiming toward the bye week, and it came together," Redskins general manager Bruce Allen said.

"I think coach and myself said that Donovan is going to be here from the beginning and Donovan has been real clear in his intent of being a Redskin. So I think it just puts an exclamation point on it."

McNabb is having his roughest season since his first NFL campaign statistically, having completed 57.4 percent of passes for seven touchdownsand eight interceptions over the first half of the season while being sacked 22 times.

Redskins Schedule

Monday Night 11/15/2010 Football Schedule.  The Eagles and the Redskins are gearing up tonight for NFL Monday Night Football at ESPN.  Donovan McNabb’s team is once again facing the Philadelphia Eagles, his former team – and facing the strange predicament that the Eagles have: two superstar quarterbacks.

In a way, McNabb gets the last laugh.  The Eagles were quick to trade him in order to make Kevin Kolb their franchise quarterback. Fresh out of the pen after serving time for dog fighting charges, Michael Vick was extended an olive branch by the NFL and landed a role as backup quarterback with the Eagles.

Then, during Kolb’s first regular season start, he was injured. Vick stepped in and really took the team far. Vick landed the role of starting quarterback, and Kolb was once again the backup.

Hope for Kolb resurfaced when Vick was injured, but after getting clearance to play again, Vick was once again crowned as the starter.

So tonight, Vick will start against McNabb.

You can see the entire Monday Night Football Schedule, HERE.

Tonight, tune in to see the Eagles and the Redskins on ESPN for Monday Night 11/15/2010 Football.  The Monday Night football TV schedule gears up at 8:30 EST – so be sure to tune in to ESPN.

Sean Taylor Married With Shay Haley

The longtime girlfriend of murdered NFL star Sean Taylor got married this weekend to N.E.R.D. member Shay Haley ... TMZ has confirmed.
Three years after the tragedy, Jackie Garcia -- Andy Garcia's niece -- married Shay (top photo) in a private ceremony in Miami on Saturday night.

Shay's bandmate Pharrell Williams (bottom pic) was on hand for the event -- and even had a dance with the blushing bride.

It's been a long road for Jackie -- who was with Taylor on the night home invaders shot the former Washington Redskins player in their Florida mansion while their 18-month-old daughter was in the room.

Patrick Ramsey

The Miami Dolphins signed QB Patrick Ramsey (Jaguars), reports NFL.com.
Huddle Up: Ramsey is expected to back up Tyler Thigpen. The Dolphins haven't ruled Chad Henne (knee) out for the season but it's looking like he'll go on IR along with Chad Pennington.

The Miami Dolphins wasted little time filling out their quarterback depth with injuries to Chad Pennington and Chad Henne, signing veteran free-agent Patrick Ramsey to the active roster and second-year player Tom Brandstater to the practice squad.

Pennington, who is likely headed for his fourth and possibly career-ending shoulder surgery, was placed on season-ending injured reserve to make room for Ramsey.

The injury to Henne's knee does not appear to be as severe, as he remains on the active roster and is walking without crutches. He would not officially rule himself out for Thursday's contest against the Bears, although it seems unlikely he will be able to play.

If Henne cannot go, Ramsey looks to be the only active backup behind third-stringer-turned-starter Tyler Thigpen.

Ramsey and Brandstater earned their contracts after a Monday workout that also featured Arena quarterback Tommy Grady, journeyman J. T. O'Sullivan, and former first-overall pick JaMarcus Russell.

No corresponding practice squad move to make room for Brandstater has been announced at this time, although that news should come Tuesday.

Patrick Ramsey

A star quarterback at Tulane, Ramsey (6-3, 225) was selected by the Washington Redskins with the final pick of the third round in 2002 NFL Draft.

Ramsey was in and out of the starting lineup in his first two seasons under Redskins' head coach Steve Spurrier. He started a career-high 11 games in 2003, throwing for 2,166 yards and 14 touchdowns with nine interceptions.

When Joe Gibbs returned as the Redskins' head coach in 2004, Ramsey gave way to veteran Mark Brunell for much of the following two seasons. He was named the team's starter in 2005, but suffered a neck injury in the season opener and appeared in only four games as Brunell's backup that year.

Dealt to the New York Jets for a sixth-round pick in the 2006 offseason, Ramsey was ironically acquired to back up then-Jets starter Chad Pennington. He appeared in one game and threw only one pass before being released the following offseason.

Ramsey then spent two seasons as a backup to Jay Cutler in Denver, appearing in two games and throwing one touchdown pass in a 2007 game for the Broncos.

Released once again in 2009, Ramsey signed with the Tennessee Titans and and served as the third-string quarterback behind Vince Young and Kerry Collins for the first month of the season before he was cut loose. Ramsey later spent a brief time at the end of the season with the Detroit Lions after Matthew Stafford was injured.

Ramsey was signed by the New Orleans Saints in 2010 to back up Drew Brees, but lost out on the job to Chase Daniel and was released on Sept. 3. He spent a brief time with the Jaguars in October,  but was released upon the acquisition of Trent Edwards.

Financial terms of Ramsey's deal with the Dolphins have not yet been released, but he likely signed a one-year deal for the veteran minimum.

Tom Brandstater

A three-year starter at Fresno State, Brandstater (6-5, 223) led the Bulldogs to a 9-4 record in 2007 and earned the MVP award in a Humanitarian Bowl win over Georgia Tech. As a senior in 2008, he set career highs with 2,664 passing yards and 18 touchdowns.

Brandstater was selected by the Denver Broncos in the sixth round of the 2009 NFL Draft, spending his entire rookie season as the team's third-string quarterback behind Kyle Orton and Chris Simms.

Upon the acquisitions of Brandy Quinn via trade and Tim Tebow in the 2010 NFL Draft, the Broncos waived Brandstater on June 4th.

The Indianapolis Colts claimed Brandstater off waivers, allowing him to compete for the backup job to Peyton Manning with fellow 2009 sixth-rounder Curtis Painter. Despite throwing three touchdowns in the preseason finale, Brandstater was waived during final cuts. He spent the first month of the season on the team's practice squad before being released.

As a practice squad player, Brandstater will make roughly $5,200 per week. He will not be eligible to play in games, but can be signed to the active roster at any time.

What's particularly puzzling is that the patient exhibits what appears to be smallpox symptoms. Smallpox is one of only two infectious diseases that has been eradicated by humans (the other's Rinderpest). Smallpox was officially eradicated in 1979.

House isn't just going to make biting remarks the whole episode though. He'll actually risk his life and suit up to treat the patient. Is he getting softer this season?

GIRL TALK’S NEW ALBUM, ALL DAY, OUT TODAY!!! ALL DAY AVAILABLE FOR FREE DOWNLOAD AT ILLEGAL-ART.NET
Celebrating 10-plus years of sample-obsessed production and relentless touring, Gregg Gillis returns with All Day, his fifth album as Girl Talk, and his most epic, densely layered, and meticulously composed musical statement to date. Continuing the saga from the previously acclaimed albums, Night Ripper and Feed The Animals, Gillis lays down a more diverse range of samples to unfold a larger dynamic between slower transitions and extreme cut-ups. With the grand intent of creating the most insane and complex pop collage album ever heard, large catalogs of both blatantly appropriated melodies and blasts of unrecognizable fragments were assembled for the ultimate Girl Talk record (clocking in at 71 minutes and 373 samples).
Earlier this year, Girl Talk finally took a break from touring, festival dates, and college shows, in order to create this album that is now being released immediately after its completion. While posting the album as a free download on the Illegal Art label’s site allows All Day to reach his fan-base quickly and with minimal cost, Gillis spent more time on this album than any previous release and considers it the most fully realized and evolved manifestation of the Girl Talk aesthetic.
Download Girl Talk’s All Day here for free: http://illegal-art.net/allday.
(There are no strings attached to this free download – no email address needed, no potential donation, or anything of that nature, and it will remain this way indefinitely.)
Since the release of Feed The Animals, things have flourished for Girl Talk. He’s played almost 300 shows and hardly taken a full week off from hitting the road. He’s playing even larger venues and making even more of a spectacle — he’s employed a small crew of toilet paper launching stage hands, who also propel confetti, balloons, and inflate oddly chosen props into the audience. For the New Year’s Eve show to ring in 2010, a team was hired to build a life-size house, with attention to fine details, on the stage at Chicago’s Congress Theater. Described as the craziest house party ever, Girl Talk continues to please live audiences as the mass of sweaty bodies at his shows continually grows. Touring highlights from the last couple of years include the Vancouver Olympics, large festivals such as Coachella, Austin City Limits, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, V-Fest, Sasquatch, Rothbury, Monolith, Planeta Terra, and trips to Australia, Japan, South America, Europe, and Mexico.
As previously announced, Girl Talk will be touring extensively in 2011 in support of this release.

Refudiate

Take a look at the images on the right. What is the text on the hand of Sarah Palin? (Besides, of course, the fact that they’re both catalysts for major firestorms.) Give up? Well, both have inspired two separate vocabulary-minded companies to crown their Words of the Year: “Refudiate,” a non-existent word used by Sarah Palin in a tweet back in July, has been named Word of the Year by the Oxford American Dictionary, while the Global Language Monitor has recognized “Spillcam” the top word of 2010. (“Vuvuzela,” the overbearingly loud horn used at the World Cup, finished second to spillca-
Interestingly enough, “refudiate” placed fourth on Global Language Monitor’s list — behind the aforementioned vuvuzela at No. 2, and “the narrative” at No. 3 — which means one thing: Between this and Palin’s ratings domination on TLC last night, the ex-governor of Alaska is back in vogue like it’s September 2008. Personally, as someone who appreciates the proper English language (but, yes, hypocritically championed the placement of “truthiness” in the dictionary a few years back), I have to refudiate OAD’s decision to recognize Palin’s gaffe, even if there are (thankfully) no plans to include the word in the dictionary. (But am I using it correctly? I refudiately honestly don’t know!) Let’s only reward non-words when they’re awesome, like Baconnaise, ‘mkay?

Vanessa Minnillo Engagement Ring

Vanessa Minnillo is very proud to flaunt her diamond ring gifted to her by her boyfriend on their engagement. This comes after her six years of relationship with her now fiancé, Nick Lachey. The ring is reported to be worth $125,000 and Bader & Garrin is its manufacturers. According to sources it is an asscher cut diamond of platinum and has trapezoids on its sides.
Nick and Vanessa started dating each other shortly after Nick’s divorce with Jessica Simpson. However, Vanessa had revealed her feelings even before they started dating each other saying she had a “Mini crush” on her co-star when both were featuring for the video “What’s Left of Me”.
They even had a brief split in 2009 but now things are on the happier side and both are looking forward to a happy married life. Vanessa’s engagement ring also has made the general public compare it with the one worn by Jessica Simpson. Jessica’s ring is being gifted by Neil Lane. It has three stones and has a central ruby which is flanked by two diamonds. Such is the awesomeness of both the rings; people are made to gape with awe at the two rings. Rings apart, what matters is a happy life ahead. Let’s hope the couple have a great time together.

John Tyner

The TSA has yet another problem on its hands after John Tyner, a 31-year old Californian, refused to go through the newest extra security measures at the San Diego airport on Saturday, according to CNN.

Tyner, a software engineer, refused a pat-down at the airport on Saturday morning on the way to a hunting trip. Tyner filmed the entire exchange (see his videos below) on his cell phone camera and posted a blog (he writes as Johnny Edge) about his experience when he was refused at the airport.

Tyner told CNN: "I don't think that the government has any business seeing me naked as a condition of traveling about the country."

Rimes, 28, wished her ex-husband all the best through her Twitter account. She wrote on Saturday, “Congrats to @deansheremet and @sarah_silver on your engagement!”

Watch Messy Mya Death Photo

Messy Mya (AKA Messy Maya) is dead. Messy Mya Death Photos are here.

He was shot at around 8 in the evening after attending his girlfriend’s baby shower in New Orleans.

Before police arrived, his body just lay on the street.  It attracted quite a large crowd.

Someone in the crowd, and maybe more than one person, took pictures of Messy Mya’s bloodied body.

What followed was much worse.

That person published the photograph on the internet and Twitter users circulated the picture.

Latin In America informs us: Messy Mya was a classic example of how the Internet and viral sites like YouTube can help artists become superstars over night. Messy Mya was known for his funny, provocative videos that caused an uproar with fans.

LA Late reports: Death photos of Messy Mya (aka Messy Maya) were reported posted online Sunday after Mya was murdered in New Orleans. The photos posted Sunday evening and re-tweeted were removed by Monday morning.

Celibrity Smack! Tells us: Although a motive for the shooting isn’t clear yet, we hear that Messy Mya was shot after busting someone’s balls.

Messy Mya’s Facebook page even has a pic of the ultrasound of his baby.

Messy Mya was a comedian and posted his acts on YouTube.

It was reported that he may have had a run-in with someone who then shot and killed him.

He leaves a girlfriend who is carrying his baby.

It is a shame that someone would kill another person over what was probably a minor problem.

It is also horrific that someone would take and post the death picture for the world to gawk over.

RIP Messy.  Let’s pray for the comfort of his child and girlfriend.

Kristen Hall Update

Kristen Hall, AP) – The two members of the country duo Sugarland avoided a nasty public trial with the group’s founding member, settling a lawsuit over claims that she was owed an estimated $14 million of the band’s profits after she left to pursue a solo career five years ago.
Sugarland, which last week was named the Country Music Association’s vocal duo of the year, was set to go to trial Monday with founding member Kristen Hall over claims she was owed one-third of the band’s profits even though she quit the band in December 2005.
U.S. District Judge Timothy Batten signed a court order Friday saying the parties reached a settlement. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed, but Batten gave both sides until Dec. 13 to complete the agreement. Attorneys for the parties could not immediately be reached for comment.
Hall sued Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush in 2008, claiming that she should have been given a third of the group’s profits — a sum her lawyers said could exceed $14 million.
The complaint said Hall, who founded the band in 2002, set the stage for the group’s success by acting as its manager, marketing officer and tour organizer in its early years. It said she used her personal credit cards to pay for the band’s expenses, and that she “collaborated generously” on the debut album, which sold millions of copies.
Nettles and Bush countered in court documents that Hall never reached a profit-sharing agreement with them when she quit. They said they were left to repay almost $100,000 in debts after Hall left, and that she had “no expectation that the parties would ever work together again.”

The Color Purple

One of Black America’s most coveted and contested period dramas turns 25. “The Color Purple,” a 1985 film based on the Pulitzer Prize winning novel by Alice Walker is a blockbuster chronicling the life of an African American family in the early 1900s rural south.

The story of Celie Harris, played by Whoopi Goldberg–her first dramatic film earning her an Academy Award nomination–is a transformative, coming-to-age narrative about an abused teenage Black girl who grows to become a triumphant subject of the cultural strength and resilience of Black women.

The Steven Spielberg film–whose stirring score directed by Quincy Jones didn’t go without its share of controversy. “The Color Purple” was arguably the “Waiting to Exhale” or “For Colored Girls” of the 1980s, disputed over its alleged negative depiction of Black men–most notably the representation of Celie’s husband, Albert Johnson or Mister, played by Danny Glover. The Coalition Against Black Exploitation also publicly protested the film largely because a White man directed it, stereotyped Black people, and supposedly moved too far away from the original plot in the book.

But today, “The Color Purple” is the go-to film beloved across generations for making you cry and laugh in one single scene.

As we celebrate an astounding 25 years of “The Color Purple” the film, let’s look back on our favorite scenes.

Is your favorite “The Color Purple” moment when Celie and Nettie played hand games in the grass, or is it the jook joint scene with Shug Avery? Or what about the closing table scene right before Celie tells Mister, “Till you do right by me, everything you even think about gonna fail!” And we can’t forget about the memorable series of Sophia quotes!

Don’t Touch My Junk

Don’t Touch My Junk: A video of an American software engineer arguing with airport security personnel over new, rigorous, pat-down rules has become the latest internet sensation.

The man agreed to go through normal metal detectors at San Diego airport but refused to submit to one of the new full-body scans.

He says he was threatened by security guards as a result.

His mobile phone footage of the incident – dubbed ‘Don’t touch my junk’ – has become a web sensation.

John Tyner, 31, left his mobile phone recording video and sound as he pulled off his shoes and as his carry-on items were screened at airport security.

He was pulled out of the line for the standard metal detector and was asked instead to go through one of the newly installed body scanners, called Advanced Imagery Technology units or AITs.

His phone was still recording as he refused on privacy and health grounds and was instead sent for one of the new pat-downs.

“We’re going to be doing a groin check. That means I’m going to place my hand on your hip, my other hand on your inner thigh, slowly go up, and slide down,” a security worker says in the clip.

“We are going to do that two times in the front and two times in the back.

“And if you’d like a private screening, we can make that available for you also.”

Mr Tyner responded: “We can do that out here, but if you touch my junk, I’m going to have you arrested.”

A supervisor was then called, who said: “If you’re not comfortable with that we can escort you back out and you don’t have to fly today.”

“OK, I don’t understand how a sexual assault be made a condition of me flying,” Mr Tyner said.

In the end Mr Tyner’s ticket is refunded and he leaves but not before being confronted by security officials.

He says one of the security officials told him he could face charges and a fine of $10,000.

“I would like to leave now. If I’m free to go I would like to leave,” Mr Tyner said.

“All I’m trying to do is get you to cooperate,” the security guard said.

“It would look better for you when we bring the case against you that we are going to bring … that you cooperated.”

Mr Tyner says his video was not a set up and he will not be flying again anytime soon.

Hundreds of the full-body scanners are being installed around US airports.

America’s Transport and Security Administration says all passengers must be screened and the new measures are a response, in part, to the notorious underwear bomber incident on a flight to Detroit last Christmas.

“They in no way [are] electronic strip searches,” homeland security secretary Janet Napolitano said.

“All they do is ping in a private area, away from the gate, with an image that is neither retained nor transmitted.”

With the busy holiday season approaching, the Airline Pilots Association has voiced its concern about the pat-downs and tourism groups are reporting an increase in traveller complaints.

“We have an open ear, we will listen – it’s all about everybody recognising their role,” Ms Napolitano said.

US transport officials point to surveys showing a majority of passengers approve of the new procedures.

Big Sis Caught Lying

Big Sis Caught Lying, If you’re in an airport and you were one of the few who got in line to go through the whole body*n*lysis machine again, what would you do? Would you go through the new X-ray machine so hot or if he refuses? It seems that the number of people “opting out” is getting bigger … Why? Stories about Big Sis Janet Napolitano and John Tyner is attention to this new technology. Is it safe?
John Tyner refused to put his body through the machine thanks to research I had done before heading to the airport. And things did not go so well when you do a search “improved” body.
And the sister? National Securities, Janet Napolitano, has the nickname recently as a reference to Big Brother in George Orwell’s 1984. Napolitano has been said that the scanning machines are perfectly safe, but others … not agree. He said “have been independently evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration, the National Institute of Standards and Technology, and Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, who have all said their security.” And they are “safe, effective and protect the privacy of passengers.” But the good people reportedly respected places as John Hopkins School of Medicine and the University of California in San Francisco believe that increase the likelihood of developing cancer. UC professor was particularly concerned about the machines that present a risk to children, pregnant women and the elderly.
Would you let your family or go through an exploration of these machines?

Hillsborough County Property Appraiser

TAMPA - Hillsborough County school officials soon might look to homestead exemptions to help verify addresses for student registration.

School board members and administrators will consider the idea today during a 1:30 p.m. workshop at the Raymond O. Shelton Administrative Center in Tampa.

"I have heard too many people say over the years, 'I'll just use my grandmother's address,' to get into a school,'' said board member Candy Olson, who is pushing for the change. It's happening less frequently, she said, because the district has tightened its rules, but there still are students slipping into schools whose enrollment is stretched beyond capacity.

In the era of class-size restrictions, which limit how many students can be in certain core classes, it is a priority to ensure that students go to the school that matches their address, Olson said.

Students need proof of residency when they enroll. In the past, the district has accepted current electric or water bills, lease agreements and even purchasing contracts for homes. If the board approves the change, the forms next spring would include showing a tax receipt that verifies homestead exemption. The exemption is granted for a primary residence only.

"It doesn't work for all schools,'' said Olson, noting some parts of the county don't have as many owners claiming the exemption as others. "If we find out, gee, only three people are lying, then we don't do it again.''On average, said Steve Ayers of the district, 71 percent of Hillsborough households claim the homestead exemption, which allows up to $50,000 to be deducted from the assessed value of a primary residence.

The change would provide the district with an efficient way to check on a student's address, Ayers said.

The board will consider implementing audits for individual schools, in which an accounting clerk could verify residences of every student enrolled.

Clerks could access the county's property appraiser website, check school choice applications, and review affidavits, including those in which students live with legal caregivers.

Administrators estimate that such an audit at a typical high school with about 2,000 students would take the clerk about six weeks and cost approximately $5,520.

Attending a school other than the one a student is assigned requires an application under the district's school choice program.

Justin Biebers Dad

Three years ago, Justin Bieber was busking for money to go to DisneyWorld. Then he appeared on Justin Justin Biebers Dad:  Justin Biebers love his Dad so much.YouTube, and now he's the biggest pop sensation since Michael Jackson. Jon Ronson asks him about the bad days, girls and whether it's true he doesn't know what a German is
Thursday afternoon, San José, California. Justin Bieber sits in a dressing room that's usually home to the San José Sharks hockey team. But there are 23 Sharks and only one of him – a tiny boy in a huge room, empty but for a sofa, a documentary-maker pointing a camera at me (Jon M Chu, director of Step Up 3D, now making Justin Bieber Never Say Never 3D), his press man Mike, and his Xbox. He has, I notice, chosen for his Xbox avatar a small black girl wearing a plaid skirt.

Jon M Chu's 3D camera is capturing a circumspect, anxious me. My anxiety is due to the fact that Justin – being only 16 and by far the biggest teen star in the world, probably the biggest since Michael Jackson – tends to rattle off overly polished maxims in interviews, such as these from his newly published autobiography, First Step 2 Forever: My Story:

"Every one of my fans is so special to me... It all happened because of you. I wake up knowing I have the best fans in the world… My team is my family and they all deserve their time to shine too…"

This guardedness is understandable given the millions of anti-Biebers out there, ready to pounce on any misstep, although they're a drop in the ocean compared with the billions of Beliebers in the world, a Belieber being – according to the Urban Dictionary – "A person who loves Justin Bieber & beliebes in everything that he can do". According to Twitter, 3% of all their traffic is Belieber-related, with servers all over the world dedicated to Justin and his fans. In July he overtook Lady Gaga as the most searched-for person on the web.

I haven't got long alone with Justin and I'm worried that there won't be time to burrow beneath the platitudes and find some (with any luck) fascinating darkness.

"Which funny YouTube videos have you been watching lately?" I ask him.

"There's one called Scarlet Takes A Tumble that's really funny," he says. "This woman's on a table and she's singing and all of a sudden she stands on the edge and flips over and falls. It's really funny."

"What about Charlie Bit My Finger?" I ask him.

"Not really that funny," he says. "You think Charlie Bit My Finger is funny?"

"I do," I say.

Justin shrugs. "To Americans and Canadians it's just funny because of their English accents." He pauses. "There's a video called Arab Screaming that's really funny. It's an Arabian guy who starts screaming. It's just hilarious. You should see it. Go."

I ask Justin if he ever looks at his own YouTube videos. He says while he understands the perils of Googling himself, he does sometimes read the comments. " 'You're so stupid', 'Your song sucks', I even get, 'You're gay' for no apparent reason. What's the point of that? But then I remember there's so many people who like my videos who don't even comment. When I like a video I don't waste my time commenting. But people who hate you – they're going to take time to hate you."

He is somewhere in the midst of an 85-date tour. A row of buses is parked back in the loading bay. They drive in convoy through the night from city to city, carrying Justin and a vast army of grown-ups. I see them backstage: anxious-looking men wearing suits and holding clipboards, grizzled roadies. Earlier I watched Justin weave in and out of them on his Segway.

"Does all the travel make you feel lost?" I ask.

"You're so far away," he nods, "and you start feeling like you're a robot. When I'm overseas the schedule is always crazy and then there's the time change and you're not even yourself. It's weird."

"Do you ever feel wistful for the days before you were famous?" I ask.

At this Justin looks as if it's all getting too introspective. "I'm a regular person," he says hurriedly. "I'm living my dream and I'm just enjoying every minute of it."

It was YouTube that made him famous. His mother, Pattie, who had him when she was 18, raised him alone in the small town of Stratford, Ontario, Canada.

"My mom wasn't the greatest person," Justin says. "I mean, she was a good person, but she made mistakes. She drank. She probably did drugs and stuff, and she told me about it because she said she did enough bad stuff for the both of us. I don't need to do it because she already did it. The fact is, she changed her life around because of me. When I was born she quit smoking, she quit drinking." He pauses. "She did that all for me."

His father, Jeremy, left home when Justin was three, although if you look hard enough on the internet you'll find pictures of him – a tattooed bodybuilder calling himself Lord Rauhl, whose bio reads, "My life is my son. He is 9 years old and is the most talented person I know. He's a 'looker' too (just like his dad)!"

And Justin turned out to indeed have unexpected talents: "I can do a Rubik's Cube in a minute and a half," he says.

"Whatever state it's in?" I ask.

"Yeah."

"Are you a genius?" I ask.

"I wouldn't say a genius, but I can do a Rubik's Cube," he says. "And sudoku puzzles."

And furthermore, he had an effortlessly cherubic singing voice. When he was 13 he started busking to try to raise enough money to visit DisneyWorld. Overwhelmed passersby filmed him and put the videos on YouTube. He entered local talent contests and his mother put those videos on, too. They were noticed, first by a manager named Scooter Braun, then by Usher and Justin Timberlake, who got into a bidding war (Usher won), and then by zillions of teenage girls, all at once, all over the world. Most stars win over countries gradually, one by one. Justin instantly became massively famous everywhere. So they pulled him out of school and he began the life he now has – home-schooled in the tour van, always on the move.

"Singers aren't supposed to eat dairy before a show but we all know I'm a rule breaker."

First Step 2 Forever: My Story

A few months ago, while visiting a Sydney TV show called Sunrise, Justin was being led by the floor manager to the couch. He put his hand on Justin's back.

"Don't ever fucking touch me again," Justin reportedly growled at him.

"Oh, he tells us that all the time," Justin's sound man murmured to the startled floor manager.

A few days after the Sunrise incident, Justin was in New Zealand, being interviewed by a presenter with a strong Kiwi accent. He asked Justin if Bieber was the German word for basketball.

"German?" Justin asked.

"German," said the interviewer. Justin looked blank-faced. "German," said the presenter. "You know? German."

"I don't know what that means," said Justin.

"Here," said the interviewer, showing him the word German written on his card.

"I don't know what that means," said Justin. "We don't say that in America."

They were a disastrous few days – Justin's very own Scarlet Takes A Tumble. "Couldn't he squeeze in a few minutes to learn what 'German' means?" wrote the Huffington Post. "The Beebs doesn't know that the word 'German' exists."

Soon after a video emerged, filmed in Germany months earlier, in which Justin counted to 10 in German and spoke lovingly about his German great-grandfather.

"I couldn't understand what the guy was saying," explains Justin now. "I know what German is. Obviously." He pauses. "It sounded like he was saying Jewman."

"You thought he was asking you what the Jewman word for basketball was?" I ask.

"I didn't know what he was saying." Justin pauses. "Mike?" Justin turns to his press man, sitting in the far corner. "You were there."

"The way he posed the question was confusing," Mike agrees. "He was trying to be funny."

"But it's not even German for basketball," says Justin.

"It was a joke," says Mike.

"It was weird and I didn't get it," says Justin.

"By the way," I say, "the Jewman word for basketball is 'The game we don't play well'."

"Are you Jewish?" asks Justin.

"Yes," I say.

"Nice," he says.

He recites the first line of the Shema – the Jewish morning and evening prayer – getting it syllable perfect: "Shema Yisrael Adonai Eloheinu Adonai 'Ehad." He pauses. "Christianity was based off of Jesus being a Jew," he says. "I respect it." Justin is a practising Christian. "I pray all the time," he says. "I pray two to three times a day. When I wake up I thank him for my blessings. I thank him for putting me in this position. And at the end of the day I get out my Bible. At home-school my tutor is Christian, so we go over Bible verses. It's something that keeps me grounded."

"When you meet atheists, do you think they'd be better off if they were Christian?" I ask.

"They're definitely missing out," he says.

"What's it like being home-schooled?" I ask.

"I only have to do three hours a day, which is good," he says. "I drift off. I definitely drift off. So I'm better one-on-one."

But paradoxically, he says, he is also a perfectionist. In fact, his perfectionism is a problem: "I'm way too hard on myself. I always want to be better."

"Do you beat yourself up too much?" I ask.

"A bit too much," he says. "But lately I've been trying to get better over it."

Drifting off; outbursts of anger; being a perfectionist... "Do you have ADD?" I ask him.

"I…" Justin says. "I have a small case of ADD."

"How does it manifest itself?" I ask.

"If I don't understand something, and I'm bored, I don't pay attention," he says, "so my teacher has to really make it fun for me. Every hour he has to give me a five- to 10-minute break. But after the break I'll be back into it. I'll be good."

"Have you actually been diagnosed with ADD?" I ask.

"No," he says. "It's self-claimed."

"I've diagnosed myself with generalised anxiety disorder," I say.

"Nice," he says.

"Do you get anxious?" I ask.

"Yeah, I get anxiety sometimes," he says. "Mostly when people are pulling me in 20 different directions. That's when I get it. I'm, 'Let me just breathe for a second'."

"If I were you I'd constantly be telling people not to fucking touch me," I say, "because you're forever being harnessed and prodded."

"It's tough," Justin says.

He denies, by the way, telling the Sydney floor manager not to "fucking" touch him – "Hearing adults spread lies and rumours is part of the job, I guess," he tweeted at the time – but he admits losing his temper with him. "There are so many people telling you what to do," he says. "I work really hard, and I'm tired, and I have bad days." He pauses. "Everyone has bad days."

He tells me a story about before he was famous. He approached the rapper Twista for an autograph: "He was, 'Not right now.' I was, like, 'Dang.' But now I'm in that situation I understand where he was coming from. You've got so much going on. Like if I'm eating. I don't want to be bothered when I'm eating. That's my only downtime. People don't understand. They think it's all fun. And everything's great. But it's hard work." He falls silent. Then he adds, with some vehemence: "It's harder than anyone thinks."

"The huge steel-framed hot air balloon basket is designed to fly me out over the crowd, dipping not quite low enough for them to touch, but close enough for me to see all those beautiful faces."

Justin writes in his autobiography that his favourite topic of conversation is, "Girls, girls, girls, girls, girls, girls, GIRLS." I tell him that I am prepared to ask him about girls, but self-consciously so, for I am a 43-year-old man and I think it will seem creepy.

"You can ask me about girls," says Justin, reassuringly. "It's all good. I like girls. Girls are awesome. Yeah."

"How will you ever find a girlfriend who won't just spend the whole time thinking, 'It's Justin fucking Bieber'?" I ask.

"That's what's hard about this," he says. "There are so many girls who would just do anything for me because of my status." He pauses. "Someone told me it's great to be with somebody who has just as much to lose as you do."

"So you'll have to go out with someone famous?" I ask.

"Yeah. That's probably a good idea. Because I can never date somebody who's so in love with me that she would do anything for me."

He shrugs as if to apologise for the downbeat, pensive tenor of the interview. He says I should be glad I've not got him on a bad day.

"Mike knows my bad days," he says.

"Act out what you're like on a bad day," I say.

"OK. Ask me a question," he says.

"What do you think of that sofa?" I say.

Justin gives me a look of boredom tinged with withering hatred: "I like it," he mutters. "Next question." He gazes off into the distance.

A chill runs through me. "Thank God you're not having a bad day today," I say.

"I'll be zoning off," he says. "I'll be over there. I'll not be focused on you. Good days I'll be…" Justin leans over until he's an inch from my face. He gives me a vast and petrifying smile.

Outside in the lobby, hundreds of competition winners are readying themselves for their meet and greet with Justin. Mike the PR explains that the concept has changed over the decades. In the old days it might have taken the form of a drinks party. But now it's a long line of people, ushered, four at a time, into a room in which Justin is standing. They say hello, get their photographs taken, and are ushered quickly out again.

And it is never-ending. Fan after fan after fan. Justin says hi. They shriek and look as if they're going to pass out. They have their pictures taken with him. They're gone. Each encounter lasts perhaps 30 seconds in total. Many have brought letters, which they hand to Justin, who hands them on to someone else, who hands them on to someone else, who puts them on a nearby counter. What happens to them after that, I don't know. I have a quick read of a few of them:

"So I'm sitting here trying to write this letter to you. I didn't think it would be this hard… I'm really just this short person…

"Call me: 510-502…"

One girl hands Justin a letter and then seems overwhelmed with doubt and suspicion.

"Read it," she barks at him. Then she turns to me. "Watch him as he reads it," she yells.

Nearby, there's a larger-than-life-size cardboard cutout of Justin. The real Justin wanders over to it. "Who are you looking at, buddy?" he mutters. He punches it in the face.

A few minutes later and another girl's moment with Justin happens to coincide with him being briefly distracted. "Jesus!" she hollers as she's shepherded away. "He didn't say hi or nothing."

But Justin is already posing for another photograph.
