Paula Creamer

Reigning U.S. Women’s Open champion Paula Creamer and fellow Orlando resident Suzann Pettersen are among the early commitments announced for next month’s LPGA Tour Championship at Grand Cypress Resort.
Defending champion Anna Nordqvist, who also lives a short drive from Grand Cypress, also is on the list dribbled out by tour officials. The full 120-player field will be unveiled Wednesday.
“Winning the Tour Championship last year is a great memory and such a good way to end my rookie year,” said Nordqvist, who captured last year’s rain-marred event in Houston.
The event was moved to Orlando earlier this year, reuniting the tour with the Grand Cypress venue that once was a schedule mainstay. Competition dates are Dec. 2-5; tickets are available at LPGATourChampionship.org or by calling 888-LPGA-TIX.
Creamer played just one round in the season’s first four months as she dealt with thumb problems that eventually required surgery. The Isleworth pro got her reward, though, when she captured the U.S. Women’s Open crown at Oakmont.
Pettersen currently stands No. 5 in the women’s rankings, winless for 2010 but with nine top-5 finishes in 17 starts.
