After falling behind 21-0 in the first quarter, Ole Miss staged two easy scoring drives in the second quarter.
Brandon Bolden converted both, the first with a 17-yard run, the second from 2 yards.
Tennessee blunted the Rebels’ momentum by pulling off an 11-play touchdown drive of its own in between Ole Miss scores.
Justin Hunter made his second touchdown catch of the day and it was a beauty, going up between two Rebel defenders for a 22-yard score to make it 28-7.
After Ole Miss countered to make it 28-14, the Vols again answered. This time it was a short drive for a 43-yard Daniel Lincoln field goal to make it 31-14 with 56 seconds left in the half.
The first quarter was all Tennessee.
After stopping the Rebels’ opening drive, Tyler Bray hooked up with Hunter on an 80-yard TD for a quick 7-0 lead.
The Vols stopped Ole Miss on downs later in the period and Bray and Denarius Moore teamed up for a 17-yard TD pass for a 14-0 lead.
Three plays later, Eric Gordon intercepted a Jeremiah Masoli pass and streaked 46 yards to make it 21-0.
Bolden scored from 17 yards on the first play of the second quarter
