India clinched their first gold at the Asian Games when Srinivasa Rao Balluri won the men’s 56 kg weightlifting event on the first day of competition in Guangzhou.This came after India kicked off presence at the medals tally by clinching a silver medal in the 10m air rifle shooting team even. The Indian trio of Gagan Narang, Abhinav Bindra and Sanjeev Rajput beat Korea to bag the silver in the event. China grabbed the gold with Jikang Yu, Qinan Zhu and Yifei Cao in the team.
