Easton Corbin described his multiple CMA Awards nominations as “surreal,” and said the nods for new artist and single of the year made him feel accepted by the industry.
However, the morning he heard about his nominations, Corbin was initially concerned by all the cell phone calls coming from his record label, UMG Nashville.

“I was driving to a writers appointment and they were blowing my phone up,” he said Wednesday. “When that happens, you know something is up and I didn’t know if it was good or bad.”

Working the CMA Awards black carpet made him feel a lot like he did the day he got his nominations: overwhelmed.

“It’s overwhelming in the best way,” he said. “It’s a lot of the same questions.”
