Contestant Rules
Solo performers only, ages 15 through 21 on date of audition.
Performers may not compete in finals more than 3 years in a row.
It is recommended that a performance run under four minutes.
For contestants using vocals, accompaniment tracks with vocals are prohibited.
Contestants using vocals must bring an accompaniment track to leave with Orpheum staff at audition, track will not be returned.
Judges will be instructed to consider the appropriateness and difficulty of selection, technique, and stage presence.
Contestants should register no later than 48 hours before audition and will be assigned a specific audition time. Contestants must submit full name, age, school, local phone number, selection they plan to perform at audition, and preferred audition site/date. To register call (901) 529-4204, audition times will be assigned on Tuesdays and Thursday weekly and day prior to each audition.
Contestants may compete in all live auditions and may submit one taped audition (DVD format only) in 2010. DVD auditions must be submitted by NOON on July 8, 2010, will not be returned, will be reviewed and chosen for a wild-card placement in the finals.
All qualifying contestants must perform the selection used at audition. No substitutions will be made.
Qualifying contestants (up to four per audition) will be invited to compete in the finals at the Orpheum, August 7, 2010 at 7:30 pm.
Qualifying contestants have a maximum of 5 business days to mail or drop off vocal charts and 200 word biography to Orpheum after qualifying audition date.
Qualifying contestants must attend a mandatory press/awareness event on Friday, August 6 during daytime hours.
Qualifying contestants (8-14 finalists) must be available to attend all rehearsals on August 5 & 6, 2010.
14. Failure to submit materials, attend 8/6/10 events or rehearsals will result in ineligibility to perform in finals on August 7, 2010
