Toy Story 2: When Pixar made “Toy Story” and “Toy Story 2,” there wasn’t a best animated-film category and only 5 best picture nominees for the Academy Awards. I can imagine there’s going to be a serious push for ‘Toy Story 3′ to be recognized this year.“Toy Story 3″ has already conquered the box office, grossing over $1 billion world-wide. But can it win over Oscar? Producer Darla K. Anderson certainly hopes so. Though only two animated films– “Beauty and the Beast” and “Up” — have ever been nominated for a Best Picture Academy Award, hopes are high that TS3 will be the one to snag the big prize.
We caught up with Anderson — whose four films as a producer for Pixar have grossed over $2 billion world wide — at a recent event held in her honor by Women in Film, Los Angeles, the Producers Guild of America and Walt Disney Studios.
